A Dataset of Marine Macroinvertebrate Diversity from Mozambique and São Tomé and Príncipe

Marine macroinvertebrate communities play a key role in ecosystem functioning by regulating flows of energy and materials providing numerous services. In Mozambique São Tomé Príncipe marine macroinvertebrates are important for the livelihood food security local populations. We compiled dataset on invertebrates from through an extensive data search digital platforms, scientific literature, natural history collections (NHC). This encompasses 1816 to 2023 comprises 20,122 records, representing 617 families, 1552 genera, 2137 species, species occurrence mangrove forests, seagrass beds, coral reefs, other coastal offshore habitats. The has Darwin Core standard format been fully released Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF). It is accessible GBIF portal under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. standardized validated with tools such as WoRMS, GEOLocate, Google Maps. Therefore, they can be readily used further studies richness, distribution, functional traits. Overall, this contributes baseline information biodiversity future research.
